Sri Lankan authorities have restricted internet access to the websites of 1xBet, 1win, bet365, and 22 other international gambling operators. The blocks follow a domestic licensing mandate that took effect on December 1, 2025.
Domestic Licensing Requirements
Under the updated framework, foreign-issued permits are not recognized, and only companies registered within Sri Lanka may accept local players. The affected operator list includes Betfair, Unibet, Stake, Parimatch, PIN-UP, Mostbet, BetWinner, MELBET, 22Bet, Betway, and Dafabet.The national regulator has directed internet service providers to implement the site blocks. Residents are advised to use only authorized platforms. Online gambling remains legal in the country, but the new mandate now applies to all foreign-facing operators.
